The hair loss gene comes from women although men are affected by it more. Women do lose hair and it gets thinner as well, but men pick up the hair loss gene more than women because that's how they're made.

It's not just the guys, but women too; my hair is not as thick as it used to be; I just try to be more gentle with it and keep it moisturized.

Maybe we don't need hair anymore, perhaps its evolution. I don't think their is a way to prevent it or cure it. You can take pills like propecia or use rogaine but these are really expensive(use for a lifetime) and is it really worth it because your just delaying the inevitable.

There are topical products over the counter(Rogaine), and there is a medication that requires a prescription(Propecia).

I don't think they bring back hair that's lost but they help prevent further loss.

As you see from other answers it is not only men, women lose hair too. I cut my hair very short,almost a buzz cut. I think of hair as a nuisance. I "comb" with palm of my hand and ready to go. Males lose hair largely because of high testosterone. So it has advantages.
