this is my cat--she started losing her hair a few months ago. she about 1 1/2 yrs old, lives with two other cats shes been with her entire life and a dog i got about a year ago. she has been wormed and had flea treatment recently. her opposite side looks identical to the one pictured. she has, since birth, been about twice the body mass as her siblings, but about the same body size...any guesses?

Sounds pretty serious...I'd say ask a veterinarian, or go to one of those sites where you can search pet diseases by symptoms. And maybe put the cat on a diet?

Firstly, it could be a diet allergy, could be a bedding or other contact allergy, could also be self harm due to stress from other animals, may need a neck hood to prevent over licking, but this won't stop the scratching. Here we get what is called summer itch from a little mite not sure hwere you are so don't know if this is cause. Try a complete removal away from other animals, cage her in a large area, then feed her only good quality dry food, probably needs prescription cram, antibiotics and cortisone to really clear up the problem. The overweight could be related to this condition but also just some cats tend to over eat, I have one who would eat all day if he was allowed.

she could be allergic tko the flea treatment you used swelling could be worms not treated for there are hookworms heartworms tape worms please ck with your vet it realy doesnt look good i saw this in a chow of a friend once it was mange i dont know if cats get that or not

My best guess would be a thyroid disorder. Take Kitty to the vet as soon as you can. He can do a simple blood test to find out if that's what it is.

Go to your vet...have bloodwork done. I would be concerned of many things, such as allergies and possibly hypothyroidism (though rare in cats...it can happen and her symptoms match for the most part).
