Newborns hair- colour change?

My little one was born just over 3 weeks ago with lots of dark hair-after a few days, it changed to a light brown and orange colour. Very orange and blondy actually. Im worried it will stay so orange as i know how cruel children can be to ginger children at school.....in some lights it looks brown and blonde...

He hasnt lost any hair yet ...........i know i shouldnt worry and i dont care waht colour his hair is, just that it would be easier on him if he was dark or blonde. Im brown haired as is my partner

Hair colour is totally dependent upon the gene mix your child received. There will be all sorts of hair colours in your family histories that you may be unaware of. Red included.

Usually, hair colour darkens as we get older and at 3 weeks, I wouldn't think your baby's hair colour is fixed just yet. But don't hold your breath waiting for it to change. Just ensure that you get him a good haircut when the time is right, so that if he does have reddish tones for a few years, at least he's got a trendy style that suits his face shape.

My son was just like this - really dark at birth and gradually lightened - he went through a gingery stage but is a lovely little blonde now at 9 months - I think it's just a changeover period!!

All the guys in my family had changes in color. My youngest brother had almost white hair when he was born and now its a dirty blond but my dad's hair has gotten so dark it looks black.

His hair might change color a few times before it settles. It might also fall out and come back in a different color.

My son was born a very light strawberry blonde...at fifteen, he has dark brown hair. Took awhile, but almost everyone's hair darkens over the years...and then, unfortunately, turns gray.

Don't worry, it will probably continue changing. My little brother was born with black hair, it fell out, came back blond and then before he turned one it was brown.

I wouldn't worry about it until he hits a year.

It might end up being strawberry blond which is such a pretty color...
