I have a long hair cat that has scabs , and has hair lose can oil for minks help?

I just had a problem with non pustular bumps that turned scabby. I went to the vet and it was diagnosed as Miliary dermatitis. The cat got a shot of cortisone and is on the mend. Miliary Dermatitis is a allergic reaction to fleas or another item in your household. My cat didn't have fleas which is the most common cause but she does love to lay on those plastic bags from the supermarket. Plastic allergy is another common cause. The vet told me that cats don't like ointments or creams on their skins as they don't like the feel so they try to mess with the scabby areas even more. I am unfamiliar with Mink oil but I wouldn't use anything till I got advise from your vet. If cost is keeping you from consulting a vet like it was me. Call around I found pet exams in my area from $19.00 to $38.00.The shot was an extra $8.50 so I got good care for my pet without paying a fortune. And the vet who charged less has the nicest office and very high recommendations. Good luck.

Sounds like my kitty. He has dermatitis and has to get shots regularly. Take him to the vet.

My cat has this too, the vet said it was because he was stressed, we brought a new cat in the home and I guess he isn't happy about it, he gave me medication so he can calm down.I have never tried oil of minks, I am also giving him Brewers yeast tablets, he seems to be getting better.

It's probably just stress but, your best bet is to take it to the vet and cross your fingers because you never know..
